Well, I missed the first 15 minutes of Universe because the CABLE WAS OUT!!! But once the cable came back on, I watched it. It was good, I think. Intriguing. Something I can definitely tune into every week.
It was Stargate but definitely a different breed of Stargate. It's hard to describe really. I mean, it's easy to describe the differences from the previous incarnations--its darker, grittier, more real--but how to explain what still made it feel like Stargate? Something in the way it was written, the dialogue and line delivery, the way it was filmed? I don't know. But even without the Stargate and Jack and Carter, it still felt like Stargate.
But also very different from what has come before. Certainly, it will never replace Atlantis in my heart and I don't think I'll adore it the same way I adored SG-1, but I think I will enjoy it.
